City transport authority: Moscow ready to test self-driving taxis
MOSCOW, Nov 24 (PRIME) -- Moscow is ready to test self-driving cars, and has inspecting the streets where they can drive, the capital city’s transport department said on Wednesday in a statement.
“Over several months, we’ve been working together with (Internet company) Yandex to prepare for the pilot project; we created a working group and are discussing technical details. The center for the traffic organization and the Moscow public transport authority have already inspected the streets where self-driving taxis will drive under the pilot project,” the statement read.
Moscow will become Europe’s first capital city with self-driving taxis, but the main goal set by the mayor is traffic security.
